Schwarzbier

Schwarzbier means «black beer» in German.

AKA: Schwarzpils, Schwarzes Pils.

Pronunciation guide for English-speakers: «shvarts-beer».

It is a medium-bodied, malt-accented dark brew, very opaque and deep-sepia in color, with a chewy texture and a firm, creamy, long-lasting head. Inspite of its color, it comes across as a soft and elegant brew that is rich, mild, and surprisingly balanced.

Smell and taste malts, darkmalts, some grains, lightly some chocolate and touch of bitterness in the finish. It never tastes harsh, toasty or acrid.

The more you drink this refreshing beer, the more you want, never enough. So don’t restrain yourself, get another one glass of the gorgeous drink!

Food pairings:

Hearty, spicy food: barbecue, sausages, roasted meat, grilled steak, burgers, black-eyed peas, jambalaya, paella, ham, dark bread.

You can try it with pomegranate tart with walnuts, candied ginger pear cake.
